6 Tips for Hosting the Perfect Outdoor Party

Planning on hosting a fun outdoor get-together at your apartment? Here are our tips to help set up and host the perfect outdoor party in your community!

1. Set the date

There’s nothing quite like getting an “official” paper invitation to a party in the mail. There’s plenty of ways you can create them that don’t cost a fortune. Also, by requiring an RSVP, you’ll have a better head count of who will be at your party. Be sure to include the date, time, location and if there’s a dress code. If you’re concerned about the weather, state a back-up plan on the invites as well.

2. Create the menu

If it’s a potluck-style dinner, ask your guests to run by you what type of dish they’re bringing (so you won’t have two of the same). Be mindful of anyone’s allergies or dietary restrictions, so everyone can enjoy a great meal.

3. Prepare the patio or green space

Sweep the patio and wash the outdoor seating, or reserve the community gazebo where you will be hosting. Make sure there is plenty of seating for everyone to sit down to lunch/dinner together. And to ward off bugs, keep citronella candles on the table or apply bug spray before going outside.

4. Set the Mood

Create a playlist to stream at your outdoor party – but make sure to follow all noise rules set by the community. String lights, candles and glow sticks can help create one amazing atmosphere.

5. Be ready on time

Make sure everything has been set up by the time guests arrive. That way, you can begin to enjoy the party as soon as the first invitee shows.

6. Party

It’s your party! Enjoy every second of it!
